How to Practice Feeling with Circular Breath using the Didgeridoo

When a therapist asks someone to share their feelings rather than thoughts, it can be confusing, especially for those used to thinking their way through life. Many of us learn to analyze and explain our experiences instead of feeling them. We become good at describing our pain without truly experiencing / feeling it.

So when someone asks, “What do you feel in your chest, belly, or throat right now?” it can be hard to respond. The reality is that thinking and feeling are different. Most of us are good at thinking, while the language of the body—like sensations and emotions—is less familiar.

Healing doesn’t come from thinking. You can’t think your way out of trauma or feeling safe. You need to ‘feel’ your way through it. This involves noticing your body: Is your chest tight? Is your face hot? Is there pressure in your stomach? Can you sit with those feelings instead of escaping into thoughts?

It’s challenging, but necessary. When someone learns to feel again and listen to their body instead of ignoring it, they begin to discover what truly influences their symptoms, behaviors, their pain.

The didgeridoo tunes into your bodily feeling and goes deeper than your minds interpretation. The comfort while playing is soothing, vibration in the throat and lips, the feeling of letting go with the exhale. Sitting there and letting the mind travel through as you stay with feeling in the body and release all of that you cannot control. The feeling of coming alive inside by relaxing and controlling the diaphragm. Expression using the didgeridoo as a medium to use your dvoice that has no mind interpretation only a feeling that is truly all yours. The boudoir of the heart.

Self affirmation:

Can I feel the feeling without attaching it to a person, story or an event.

Thoughts are interpretations, memories and anticipations.

Be in your body, with your breath.

Today is real.
